This Privacy Policy explains how The Gopher Pothole Plotter and Spotter App (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles your information when you use The Gopher Pothole Plotter and Spotter App (the “App”). This App is available on the Apple App Store and is designed to operate with full respect for your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
The Gopher Pothole Plotter and Spotter App collects certain types of data to enable core functionality of the App. However, all data is stored exclusively on your device (iPhone or iPad) and is not transmitted to any external servers, cloud services, or third parties.
The types of data collected may include:
- Location Data: The App uses your device’s location to provide location-based features (e.g., maps, navigation, or local context). This data is collected and processed only on your device. While the App integrates Google Maps for mapping functionality, your precise location is not sent to Google or any third party unless required for map rendering (see “Third-Party Services” below). No location history or location-based usage patterns are stored beyond the current session or as needed for App functionality, and nothing is uploaded off-device.
- User-Generated Content: Any data you input into the App (such as notes, preferences, or settings) is stored locally on your device and used solely to support the App’s intended functionality.
- Usage Data: The App may collect minimal usage information (e.g., feature usage, crashes) strictly for internal diagnostics and improvement. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted unless you explicitly choose to share feedback.
2. Data Storage and Security
All data collected by the App is stored only on your personal device. We do not collect, access, or store any user data on external servers. Because no data leaves your device, there is no risk of remote data breaches, unauthorized access, or data sharing with third parties.
You retain full control over the data. If you delete the App, all locally stored data is automatically removed from your device.
3. Third-Party Services
The App integrates Google Maps to provide mapping functionality. While Google Maps is a third-party service, your location data is processed locally whenever possible. In some cases, map tiles or geocoding requests may be sent directly from your device to Google’s servers via the Google Maps SDK. These requests are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store any data exchanged between your device and Google.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. No data is used for profiling, advertising, or cross-site tracking.
4. Data Use and Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose any user data with third parties. Since all data remains on your device, there is no transmission of personal information to us or any external entity.
Your data is used solely for the purpose of enabling the App’s core functionality and improving user experience.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. It is not directed at children, and no personally identifiable information is collected from them.
6. Your Rights
Because your data never leaves your device, you have full control at all times:
- You can disable location services for the App in your device settings.
- You can delete the App to permanently remove all stored data.
- You can review and manage app permissions via iOS Settings.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted in the App and on the App Store. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or via App Store updates.
